So, Who Are You and What Are You Doing Here?

Before you decide on your company name, color scheme, tagline, or anything, you need to ask yourself these simple questions.

What is my mission?

Think about your organization’s core purpose and focus. This should be an accomplishment of what you want to strive for. Your mission should state what you are going to do, how you are going to do it, and why you are doing it. Put it in a statement, and make it the center of everything you do.

What makes me different from my competitors?

You wouldn’t be starting your own brand if you weren’t already unique. So think about what characteristics, services, and values you have that other businesses similar to you don’t have. Take whatever is different and beneficial about you and make that stand out to people.

What does my target audience need?

Do your research and understand to the core what your audience wants from you and what they would like. Figure out how you can show them how you do that for them every day. Once a connection between them is made, your business goals should become clearer.

Creating a brand is more than just picking the right colors or coming up with a slogan that gets stuck in people’s heads. It has to be a beneficial identity that can be recognized on a daily basis.
