March is National Nutrition Month! How are you celebrating it? Whether it is taking the stairs instead of the elevator or switching that cupcake for fat-free yogurt, there’s many ways you can make your daily routine more active and nutritious.
The team at Boral Branders likes to keep healthy snacks handy in the office for those who forget their snacks or need something to calm their hunger before lunchtime. Recently, our healthy snacks have consisted of: sliced cantaloupe, toasted wheat bread, organic milk, green tea, and Nature Valley bars.
We want to share some tips on how you can conquer this month and apply different practices for the rest of the year.
1 > Thirst and hunger are two different things. Don’t eat when you know you shouldn’t be hungry, grab a cup of tea, a glass of water, or juice and slowly back away from the kitchen.
2 > Don’t munch on a burger while reading a book. Don’t stuff yourself with chips while watching Netflix. You pile on unnecessary calories when you multitask while eating because you don’t appreciate the bites you’re taking.
3 > Don’t punish yourself for not losing weight. Go ahead and buy those jeans you’ve been eyeing in your current size. Dress the body you have – not the one you hope to attain.
4 > Don’t eat with your wallet. Yes, you’re paying for the meal and your mother has told you to not waste your food. However, if you are full, you are full, don’t overeat. You’ll end up paying twice the price by mistreating your body.
5 > Use lunch time or dinner time to bond with your kid. Teach them how to cook and help them learn good eating habits at a young age.
